     DirecWay ( HughesNet ) satellites
« on: Today at 12:08:32 PM »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are there any DirecWay techno experts out there ?
Have a friend who is taking a HughesNet system down to Nicaragua and plans to set it up down there
( Please, no comments about it won't work down there or it's not allowed .... we know it will work, just technical advice  thanks )
The system will be at least DW7000 or newer.
When re-registering, what would be the best satellite to log onto
The exact location is  12.10' 31.55" N  x 83.01' 55.81" W
Do you know of a site that would show the footprint of this satellite and others that DirecWay uses

Thanks

Your problem will be that hughes only installs their equipment. It will never work till that happens.  Idea

That may apply to brand new sytems bought directly from Hughes but it doesn'r apply to used or even new systems bought on line ( e-bay etc ) .... and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to install set-up and aim the dish
Iv'e done it myself before and I'm sure my friend in Nicaragua could do it too if we knew which satellite to use
Thanks for the info but remember I said " forget about that it's not allowed "

If you're taking a system that is already configured for a specific satellite, you'll have a hard time getting hughes to re-commission it without an installer.  But if it's been decommssioned, they might not give you such a hard time.

Anywho, you're better off asking that question here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat
