I have to laugh , looking at how people get so attached to food, ones gonna " kick ass " another is just pissed.
I get hungry enough, I'll make chowder outta whatever creeps, crawls, fly's, or swims, and that aint no lie people.
I guess in a bad enough situation most would eat a pet type animal.Probably not our own to start with. Then again people have resorted to canabalism in severe situations. Some aboriginals may still practice it & certainly did a 100 years ago.
But yes if you are killing ,cooking & or eating a pet be it cat ,dog or other in front of me I will attempt to kick your ass.If I think your starving maybe not.
What I would really do is attempt to get the law to enforce animal cruelty laws on you. Some years ago a man got 2 years in prison for putting a guinea pig live in a skillet & cooking it to death.
I would never hunt bear unless it was endangering people or livestock.I think even that should be limited if it is people that have moved into the bears territory.Something we wouldn't need to do if there weren't too many people. I understand bear meat is eaten by some. I think most kill a bear for the hide & don't eat the meat.

So in reality what your saying is if I had a pet raccoon, or a pet possum, then I could " kick your ass " for eating stew made from them ?
I wouldn't go into the deep south and talk that smack.
See right here is another prime example of how this country is F#@&ed up. In saying " because more people than less " have brought wild dog into there home, until you broke it's natural will, another can't by law eat it. Thats forcing your personal opinion on the masses. Not cool.
Edit: Yea , torturing something is uncool, but to nourish yourself on what this planet renders is nothing more than natural.

Your right it was wrong and the second dog was very rude, he did not chew his food and then had the audicity to belch afterwards.
But they did kick the cats butt.
OK, I am a large dog lover and find ankle biters, rat dogs, etc...... a waste of dog food.
But I also feel what one eats is his own wishes. Sad as it may be. So how many mexican restraunts do you feel you have eaten in that you definately did not eat something other than chicken or cow??? Myself have no real idea. But over time their have been rumors of such. And I suppose the pet population being alaughtered ( gassed ) at the pet pound is more humane? Got me, but it could also be considered a waste by other folks of different traditions.
And so it is not illegal for a pet to eat a pet, that is considered to be natural, but not for man who was given dominion over all creatures of the earth ( it did not exclude cats or dogs ) to do with as he pretty much pleased.

If those cats were big as the dogs,They have those dogs giving them blow jobs. Pound for pound cats are about as tough as you can get. Plus there not stupid like most dogs.

Every country, society, culture, etc. On Earth has an code of ethics of some kind & some of these are made into laws.
Whether law or just ethics or custom & not law they are forced on members of that country by the masses of that country. In most countries this is not by the personal opinion of one person.
This would be true for the USA & a lot more people than me would kick ass on someone cooking a pet animal. That would include a raccoon or possum. Now if the raccoon or possum were a wild animal & a hunter killed them then it would be OK for them to be eaten.I guess I could even take someone eating a wild coyote. But not a domestic dog or cat.
Here is a hypothetical situation involving law & ethics:
mudmanc4 you arrive home from a hunting with your Raccoons & possums ready to cook. You still have your rifle in the gunrack of your pickup. There is a truck in your driveway being loaded with all your stuff & you're not moving. So it is being stolen. So apparently the ones taking your stuff have no ethics against stealing but I think you would.
1.Do you give them a hand & wave them good bye ?Because you can get more stuff & don't want to force your personal opinion on them .
2. Do you take your rifle out & tell them stop or you will shoot ?Then call the law to arrest them thus forcing the laws & your personal opinion on them.
3. Do you just shoot them & wait for the law to come get the bodies?
I'm bettin it wouldn't be #1.
Would you even do the same if it was your neighbors house ?

How does your mind go from eating a dog to shooting someone stealing ?
OK, first off, you'de have to know my background to know the answer, there are too many variables left out of the scenario for an accurate answer, but in the long and short of this situation, there would inevitably be bloodshed.
I can't believe I even tried to answer that one

How does your mind go from eating a dog to shooting someone stealing ?
It goes with ethics.& the right or wrong of forcing "personal opinion "on the masses.Even if that opinion would be the same as the opinion of the masses.
The ethics of being against eating a pet comes from the ethics most of the people in the USA have.I'm sure a poll would show the majority of Americans against eating pets.
I know the majority have ethics against stealing thus the laws we have against it.
So it is a comparison of is it right to force certain ethics on people. You see it is no less right to force the ethics of not eating pets on people than it is to enforce the ethics of not stealing on people.
If a person has no ethics against stealing & the masses do then they force this ethic on that person. If this holds true & it does then any ethic can be forced that the majority approves.
So that's how I got there.
You could have chosen option #1 & it wouldn't have involved anyone being shot.It must have involved your ethics to have chosen #3.
The same way my ethicical choice would be to kick ass on someone eating a pet.

u guys r killing me
here's my take...in the USA we eat certain things that people in other countries don't eat (cow for instance) in other countries they may eat thing we wouldn't even consider...most here would find it appalling to eat things that r commonly thought of as pets or family members (my animals aren't just pets they r my family and my friends...i sleep with them...as many as i can fit on my bed...) in some places incest is the norm (even a rite of passing ewww)...here u go to jail...in some places beheading is a normal everyday occurrence...here u go to jail...some people eat dogs i guess (i still say ewww)...here u go to jail...
my point...every country has it's normal way of living and obtaining sustenance...if i don't like the way the sustain i won't go there.
oh oh...edit...and there u have it...if those folks move to the USA then we will force them to give up there baby raping dog eating beheading ways or they will go to jail
...but we will not force them to eat cow...they can still believe that is a crime in their own ethical structure

I don't eat dog (or at least hope I haven't) but tdawnaz hit the nail on the head right there. The problem we as Americans have with it is we are too emotionally attached to the animal to consider it food. My ex wouldn't eat rabbit because she had one as a pet when she was 6 years old.
But give
me
a rabbit, some seasoned flour, a pot of hot cooking oil ........ but I digress.
Some countries have dog farms where they raise livestock for food.
http://www.aapn.org/fooddogs.html
People in India have their reasons for not eating cow meat and if one of us lived there, they'd probably kick our ass (or worse) for eating a hamburger.
