I agree with the glazing due to previous abuse. If you are going to run the car like a race car you need some racing parts to handle it better.
This particular time no one address the wet conditions .Many forget that water is a lubricant & clutchs are subject to that just like brakes.
Maybe this can be a lesson that will save your life if you don't know about wet brakes.Have you ever had the brakes not stop very well after driving in wet road conditions ? Well that's what water will do as a lubricant.it has even more effect on a glazed surface. So for the brakes lightly step on then to dry them out in wet conditions so they work when you need them.
Not as easy to do with the clutch.Basically the clutch surface is made of the same material as the brake pads.
On the heat up of the engine maybe the belts also were slipping because of the high rev & wet condition.

sounds like you toasted and glazed the clutch.  If your going to drive it like that you had better put in a good one.
Don't let a shop put in some cheap #%$%@, Spend the money on a good on you will be much happier in the long run.

i'm just wondering...why did u drive it like that? if it was new especially...i thought u were supposed to really baby a new car ever so many miles after u get it...even to driving under a certain mph...

man if i were to buy a new car...which i won't but if i did...for what they cost today...i'd drive it like it were gonna be the last car i'd ever own...oh wait...at 55 it probably would be...but even if i was young and impetuous...i'd still cherish what i had...

old saying...be careful with what you have because you won't know how much it meant to you til it's gone

.s1, I don't want to be a prophet of doom, but that clutch is like the dead parrot sketch , not just resting but deceaced , and you maybe lucky if it is just the clutch , even luckier
if you get the job done for free,it will be obvious to the Mech that it has been abused ,
on the temeperature rise , probably due the the heat from the flywheel being transfered into the engine block, the flywheel was probably glowing red hot at the time ,
and may have blued and distorted and may need changing or machining,
also the rear crankshaft oil seal may have suffered from the heat and needs inspecting/changing  , to save future oil leaks,
just my 2 pennies worth

BTW, to save you asking Smile no you can't borrow one of my cars  evil6

Hes probably covered, the eclipse gt we just got rid of had coverage like that, and yes , the clutch was covered, the only things we didnt have on there, were the brakes, and the tires. We get that on all the vehicles we buy, it pays for itself.

I think Roco was spot on for the heating problem.I should have thought of that.So I think the clutch is not far from leaving you walking. So best have it replaced soon.
The hard part might be convincing the car dealer to also replace the flywheel & pressure plate as well.Even if they do keep in mind these are not racing parts.
Also take heed to what Roco said about this damaging the rear main seal & watch for oil leaks.

The clutch is for rookie drivers, and using one just slows you down.

Speed shift.
