I run Real Temp to check the temperature of my Intel Quad core . Give it a try and see what it says . It is said to be the most accurate one out now for Intel.

Arctic silver can take a month before it fully settles, and you really start to see the difference.

If you use to much Arctic Silver it won't let the heat sink do its job. When they say use a small amount like a grain of rice they mean it. The pressure from seating the heat sink will spread it out the way it is suppose to be. So right in the middle of the CPU put the compound. I'm going to ask a stupid question here. Is this the first time you've put this heat sink on? If so did you scrape the silver pad off the heat sink?

Coknuck:

No, its not the first time i've installed a heatsink. But I've found the problem, it was with the genius push pin install by intel. The plastic pins were not down all the way, so I took it off and put it back on and made sure it was down all the way. Now im running at 30C with firefox and various other programs like skype open. Smile Seems pretty good to me . Also, what i like to do is put a dab of AS on the heatsink then use a credit card to spread it out

This is pretty much what I do. Yeah, I've had the points spread apart and not go into the holes also.
