CHECK THESE TIRES OUT!

These tires are made in South Carolina, USA.

SEE THROUGH TIRES
Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

Makes you wonder how the ride feels doesn't it?

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.
Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken in the South  Carolina plant of Michelin

This design has been around for some time now. Good to hear you can start buying them.

I don't see that design holding up long term, but it is cute none the less. And since I quit roofing, I rarely get flats.  wink So is this supposed to end road hazard insurance then? undecided

I would think if a company like Michelin is developing the tire, they would have to be on to something. I was looking at it as if there were other tread patterns to choose from, like some huge gnarly off road S#!t  Razz

I saw those on a Discovery channel show earlier this year. Very cool concept! Apparently the ride quality is no different than with regular tires because they have the same give as sidewalls.

I wonder how long it would take to pack them full of mud. And what would that do for the tire balancing, and how much weight would it add to the car. Same goes for winter snow and ice.

That give as in sidewalls is what I meant for long term. IF the give finally wears out, or breaks.

I'll stick to good old tubless.  oh so nerdly!  At least I know what to expect.

Thats what i was referring to, besides, i would think if they left the things looking like that, they would attract one section of the community. Large, but not on the scale that this product should be on. My bet goes with a closed sidewall appearance.
