Ok, it was a tower issue on Verizons end, interesting seeing as Verizon have no Towers in my area, but apparently they do now.

I am just glad it is working ok now.  smitten

Hope it will get better with my antenna when I get it, I have a full signal now, hope to cut out some of the noise in the transport.

If you are getting full signal, it may not make any difference really. But like me you will likely try it anyway in hopes it can't hurt to try.  Laughing

Yep, the truckers works well. And speeds still depend on traffic and distance from tower. I have both antennae. I also have a yagi to switch to if one is not responding right.

http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98&products_id=627

For the yaggi you need to know where the tower is though as it is directional.  angel

So if these truckers are going faster that means we can go faster too  shocked

I am certainly going to try the antenna, if it works out a little better the setup may help others that do not get such a good signal, to tell you the truth, now they fixed the problem my signal does not move.

That don't mean my card is not working hard to get that signal....

The way I understand communications on Mobile devices like cellphones and such, they constantly communicate with the towers to increase or decrease output depending on signal levels, maybe I can get my card to reduce the output power this in turn may make my card last longer?! also would cut down on radio emissions created by this Microwave link I have attached to my server.

Just a thought, I could be wrong and if I am could someone clarify this for me?

Thanks.

I have never found anything to reduce the power of the modem, I don't think you would want to though and as for lasting longer, who knows. As for the micro waves we are constantly bombarded with them anyway, all you added is the transmit.

I do know I had a speed problem when I first got my setup. I called Sprint and got an engineer who told me I was directly between two towers and I may be jumping back and forth. He told me what tower had the faster throughput and I placed the modem (plugged into the Linksys with a Trucker antenna attached) in a position that blocked it somewhat from the slower tower. Worked fine and has been 18 1/2 months now. I was also told from where I got the modem-router that it only receives through the trucker and transmits from the modem ( towers have far better equipment than we have) which helped me choose a location for blocking one tower.

 Hope this helps.
