anyone else have an issue with vista 64 home premium not recognizing when the headphones are plugged in?  the headphones are fully functional since they work on everything else, and the jack was O.K. until i installed vista.

It just says that there's nothing plugged in the headphone slot.  I even tried every other jack just in case with no luck.

Have you tried to right click the sound icon and then playback devices next right click the vacant area and click what you need to make them appear. And set the headphones as default. Good luck!

Sounds like probable driver issue.
Check for a driver update from sound card manufacturer or microsoft.

when i right click on the headphones, the option to set as default is grayed out.

in addition, when i go into the headphone drivers, the option to update is also grayed out cheesy

i saw where someone else had this issue recently...lemme see if i can find it...hopefully it was resolved positively

k...i found it...but the guy didn't post how he fixed it...see this is why when someone figures it out they need to post how they fixed it...
