Hello everybody. right now im worried if people in US immigration are strict enough to check computers.Right now my dell inspiron laptop i bought has no certificate of authenticity, but my windows vista home premium is activated.I used serial number of legitimate vista OS.But my problem is there is no sticker.Does anybody in our forum encounter such a mess? I don't understand?  Why would US Immigration be worried if they have legitimate software on their computers?  They still can't do a background check that keeps terrorists out of the country.

The U.S. to Canada border can steal your computer under the charges assumption of Terrorism and 'Maybe' return it in 3 months or so. So why worry?

I don't know if Microsoft has any law 'User agreement' on if you have to have you authentication sticker on the case.

I guess edit time ran out......  cheesy  Fixed it better.
Not sure if the Canada border agents take computers and phones as well if they are doing illegal profiling. Or need a new laptop for home use..  police

Copyright violations are a civil matter.  The US gov't can't do anything about it unless Microsoft accuses you of pirateing their software.

thanks to all of you guys for your replies. its my first time entry to the US for good. its been 2 years before i received their approval,i'm so worried but i cannot have my laptop formatted, using maxllf just to be sure they cannot find anything on my pc. I have just attended our pre depature seminar and it was pointed out that people at entry point are checking laptops as what happened to a filipino seaman. He has some porn pics in his pc, according to them he was deported immediately. another lady who was carrying an immitation L. Vitton bag was also deported.(fake bags!).In my case, i used my vista OS from one of my laptop to this new laptop of mine and have it activated online,it was activated and now its working pretty well with latest SP2 update. Very Happy

Sorry for the late response, we're moving from the Philippines, moving to Melbourne, Florida. I don't know what is happening here in my country. People tend to move out and venture to other countries other than the Philippines. If you walk around the countryside, you will find lots of expats all around. They say its so cheap living in this country. they're enjoying its climate, the government is also boosting its tourism, thats why lots of Indian people maybe from Bombay and Kerla, are owning lots  of parcel of lands for the poor Filipinos to till.( crazy no?)--- sorry out of context for the thread. Well some of the "1,147,995,904" India residents have to go somewhere.  Yes, that is over 1 billion people.

Here in Canada we have a yearly quota system for immigration from certain countries. But we are not allowed to talk about it.

We also Recruit South African doctors. But it really ticks off South Africa that we are taking Their Doctors away.
