How do you find out what make your NIC is and how to upgrade it? I'm interested since this computer is 4 years old and I've never upgraded the NIC drivers.
* Open Control Panel.
* Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.
* Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection.
* Right-click that icon and select Properties.
now you see your NIC eg "Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC"
go to your NIC manufactors homepage and download the driver for your NIC
if its a .exe it will install itself, if its just a .zip file you probl need to
* Open Control Panel.
* Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.
* Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection.
* Right-click that icon and select Properties.
* Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure.
* Click the tab driver, click update driver and install from that .zip
