I am stuck on this one..

I have a friend that is running a 3500+ on a Av8 Deluxe and is having boot problems...

He was running the vcore at 1.586v   the standard is 1.500.

He then did something with the cpu power frequency.. the original value was 2.5 and he changed it to 2.25... now it will not boot..

any ideas?

I'm not sure if I get it either. Was it a setting you changed in BIOS? If so, take out the BIOS battery, then restart the computer to reset the BIOS to the default setting. Then shut down the computer and put the battery back in.

Exactly what was the name of the option he changed in the BIOS (Assuming that's where it was...)? I'm looking though the manual to see what it is and don't even see an option with that name.....

Also, does it give any post codes or anything when he attempts to boot? Or is it just dead in the water?

Strange, I'll look again at the manual....

Of course, I don't know how much help I will be as I am an Intel guy, but if I find anything out I'll gladly relay it to you....

Also, you may wanna ask around in the AMD forums at www.extremeoverclocking.com ... I've found a lot of the regs there to be some pretty knowledgable people....

One of the reasons to do a lot of studying before you attempt to over-clock your system.
Odd, resetting the BIOS should have cleared his mistakes.

AI Over-clocking should have made is a bit easier.

AI Bios – Crash-Free BIOS 2
“ASUS Crash-Free BIOS 2 allows users to reboot the computer and perform an smart auto-recovery procedure through the motherboard support CD.”

I will be looking through the manual.

what kind of RAM is that? ive done 2.5-3-3-7@210 with my corsair XMS...had to raise the voltage a little, system worked fine for at least a week...so that sorta means its pretty stable.
the computer posts fine.. it is called cpu power frequency... the default is 2.5 and he set it to 2.25..

the vcore was set to 2.5v and it was running a little higher than that so he bumped the vcore down a notch, and now it wont boot? right?

in that case, short the cmos jumper to reset it, go into bios and reset everything the way its supposed to be, and keep the vcore at 2.5? but the a64 doesn't run at 2.5...its 1.5 i believe...so whatever, now im confused.

Doom 3 problems might be coming from the FX 5900.  I had one and it couldnt handle Doom 3 unless I was on medium and 1024 X 768.
