yea i know and my upload is still a lil low, so i told them to go back to their engineers and fix it again, the guy wasnt happy but dammit im paying for 1.5 not 1.2

but are u on cable? or an ADSL2 service, not all of us are on exchanges where ADSL2 is available. my exchange wont even be enabled for adsl2 this year, so ive got a wait, hopefully tel$Tra gets sold soon

dude, i dont know where ya been but telstra is being sold, they are looking into selling it and privatising the telco, its what needs to happen to deregulate the stupid cost of bandwidth in australia. hell its stupid the price here. also shaneau whats ur cap eh? telstra dont have an unlimited plans

not to mention that telstra is constantly in trouble with the ACCC and their techies didnt even know what SDSL was when i rang them. i wouldnt be caught dead with their service. i hope it all gets sold. i would love the de-regulation of bandwidht in australia, i say take new zealands approach ;)

that information came from the ministor for education. as for lowering the prices, is bigpond didnt have their own parralell system as for telstra wholesale and bigpond bought their bandwidth for the same price as the other telstra wholesale customers then there is no issue but no, they have to constantly partake in unfair trading. irregardless telstra is dead, ISP"s are putting in their own DSLAMS upto 12mbit, and becoming tier2 (their own international link) so it does not matter, oh btw it wasnt capped this month its been capped for a while, infact the last year, when my friend signed up for cable then.

actually my isp is due for an upgrade to ADSL2 in the second quarter this year, so ill b among the lucky few i guess. and also telstra have no plans of upgrading their infrastructure at the moment. and what would they cap it at, adsl can go upto 8Mbps but they slowed it to 1.5Mbps, adsl2 can go upto 12Mbps what will they cap it at 4Mbps?? that would seem typical. hold australia back.

ADSL capable of goin 8mbit, capped @ 1.5mbit
ADSL capable of goin 12mbit, capped @ ??mbit
adsl2+ which is capable of going 24mbit capped @ 12mbit

not to mention all the other BS that goes on behind the scenes i am really amused that you are defending telstra get on http://bc.whilpool.net.au in any forum thread besides bigpond and see how telstra constantly screw people over, look at how they shaft the consumers. i cant wait until we get more companies coming in from overseas, its setup so that a company could come in, set itself up, and grab a HUGE market share by simply offering the speeds and technology that is already available. what about BOPL (broadband over power lines) the tests in australia have indicated that it is capable of delivering 50mbit+ reliably, i cant wait to get onto something like that. and it will not happen whilst telstra is at the reins.

as for the source of my information... i think i trust a minister before i would trust telstra, let alone what they put on their website, i might have perhaps trstued them if they were being investegated atleast ever 6 months for bad business ethics. the ACCC says it all.

That is 4.2 Mb/s (MegaBITS), I said I get 1.19 MB/s (MegaBYTES) that is 9.52 Mbps.
