Never had to tweak my upload at all anyway.  First time I tested my upload speed, it was over average and over my max (512).  I usually get 514 or more Smile.  Good for me.

The program that did this was TuneUp Utilities 2004.  It's the best internet tweak I've ever had.  I ADVISE EVERYONE WHO HAS A SLUGGISH INTERNET TO GET THIS NOW!  You can get it here http://www.download.com/TuneUp-Utilities/3000-2086_4-10280149.html?tag=lst-0-1.  This is a very helpful program.

I am using this Tune-UP Utilites program for some time now and it is a good program for tweaking your PC but not Internet Speed. If that wasn't the case then I don't think I would've found this God Sent testmy.net website.
The advise I took from this site and downloading some patches my speed changed 300%. Before the changes my speed was 900kb, after changes and downloaded patches, my speed was up to 5mb. I did use cablenut sometimes ago and I totally forgot about it, but reading on this site I downloaded the latest version and it was as easy as it says on the tin.
Me personally, for some time now, I go to www.pcpitstop.com where I do full tests and it tells me if any changes I need to do on my PC. But that was before I found this site.
To those who are working on this site and to those who provides us with these wonderful tips and advices, GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
You just saved my life.. I mean my computer and modem Smile)

                                                     ATTENTION!!!  ATTENTION!!!

I recently stumbled upon a program that accelerated my internet speed BIGTIME.  I tried cablenut, but it only sped up my connection to about 2800 when I'm supposed to be getting 4000.  Well, after doing the internet adjustments from the programs, it fixed all the errors I caused and I came out with these results:

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 3854 Kbps about 3.9 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 470 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (server2)
Test Time:: Tue Jul 19 2005 06:31:24 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)
Bottom Line:: 69X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.18 sec
Diagnosis: Looks Great : 17.86 % faster than the average for host (Cox.net)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-3ELYK65HR

I tried this program just for the TCP Optimization and found that it actually SLOWED DOWN my speed... TCP Optimizer does better...Not to mention, I'm already using WINner Tweak...it's got everything this program has and more...

my opinion and a fact- Tune up utilities 2k6 beats the heck out of cablenut anyday. Tune-up also fixed registry/program errors never had a problem. it also lets you customize boot screen, welcome, and desktop AND startup entries can be edited and don't forget that it will speed up both up and down.. I TRIED IT... b4 and after Very Happy

Thanks, Tim

my opinion and a fact- Tune up utilities 2k6 beats the heck out of cablenut anyday.
i checked that program out, and one thing is very clear in my point of view, the authors of that program dosent know jack S#!t about TCP tuning

I pretended i had a 6 Mbps cable connection and loaded optimized settings with that program

it changed my TcpWindowSize to 149200 but they forgot to set Windows scaling enabled Tcp1323Opts, that means my RWIN will be stuck at 65535 ( maximal unscaled RWIN ), the very same RWIN you will have by default if you run your NIC in 100Mbps with Windows XP

It also changed MTU to 1492, we all know 95% of all cable connections has a 1500 byte MTU. Why reduce it? It will only result in slower speed, you will see this mainly on transfers over high delay routes. 1492 is a MTU for DSL over PPPoE and FIOS over PPPoE.

take a good look at the screenshot, cablenut has so much more to tweak then the settings Tune up utilities 2k6 using

Im sure its a great program, but not for internet tweaking. If you get better speed with that program then cablenut or TCP optimizer, its a fluke.

Tcp Optimizer is a great tool in my point of view, if you dont want and need AFD tweaks.

ive seen alot of tune up programs, when you take a deeper look at them you dont get very impressed

I agree VanBuren, /files/TCPOptimizer.exe]Tcp Optimizer could be the choice of those just starting to tweak their settings, but CableNut Adjuster is by far the best and most full feature settings adjuster and optimizer around.

. . .of course, you'll want to check out my XP Performance Tuning Guide to see what you can 'really' do to speed things up.
