gasoline refiners, wholesalers and retailers are feeling pressure to keep prices high, for now. Crude prices have risen 89 percent in the past year, while gas prices are up only 27 percent. That discrepancy has pressured profit margins along the gasoline supply chain; falling demand has prevented gas suppliers from raising prices as much as they would like.

In many cases, retailers are selling gas at a loss, relying on sales of convenience store items to generate income, analysts say.

"One would have to think that they're very reluctant to bring down the price of gas when their overall business is under pressure," .Oil's decline since May 22 has come largely on concerns about demand. Recent Energy Department data shows high prices have led consumers to cut their gasoline consumption. Meanwhile, many Asian nations are cutting fuel subsidies, effectively raising prices. Automakers are cutting production of gas-guzzling SUVs and trucks, and airlines are cutting capacity, both due to high fuel prices.

"There's a lot of empirical evidence that demand has plateaued," Sundstrom said.

Laughing a UK update on fuel costs  , Tanker drivers have gone on strike , not because of the $9 USD -per gallon , but because they have rejected a 6% pay rise offer , and are looking for 13% , as the coast of living in the UK  has rocketed since the fuel cost have  risen dramatically in the UK ,  shocked..................... idiot2,
now we are facing a 4 day fuel shortage , our Prime M has applead to the public not to panic  Laughing
(whyis itwhen the government Say's don't panic, everyone does ,)the queues  for gas are 3 miles long ,  2funny, and that was 3 days before the strike started ,

BTW, it started an hour back , so gas stations will run dry within a day or so ,

I hate it when that happens  :haha: :haha:

The US will be facing this shortage before to long, there's no way to stop it.  There's just too much demand around the world for it not to happen.

Besides, never fails, whatever  (almost ) the UK goes through, the US inevitably will.  On the strike thing, we would just put non union labor in there, and possibly keep them in there.  Go ahead, strike, lose your job as well, thats the way I see it. Dumbasses. All thats going on, and peoples greed still performs as expected.

I have seen strikes close several before. Like at least 5 steelmills a week. It happened some 27 years ago. The steel mills were begging the employees to lower wages till things settled down. All that opposed lost their plants. Those who went for had ajob for several years. And stayed union. Its not necessarily the unions, but the stupidity of the peoples thinking the union they pay too much for has more power than it does. In reality, I do not figure they are worth the pay loss. But again, its the idiotic employess who say what ends up happening.

The japanese took every job these dumb american workers did not want bad enough.  uglystupid2 If I recall correctly they were asked to work for $12.5 instead of the $15 starting wages at the time. Still damned good money badk then. And they could have kept it all going still.

Americans screw america up more than foreigners.  Wink

Ouch,I guess thats hurting ,  for a US gallon in the UK it is about $9.10 ,
so you folks have some way to go yet  Evil or Very Mad
I hate it when that happens  :haha: :haha:

The US will be facing this shortage before to long, there's no way to stop it.  There's just too much demand around the world for it not to happen.

Laughing, Our Prime Minister is keeping out of this best he can , he is walking on quicksand anyway ,
LOL on the non union labour , you just brought the UK to a halt , putting  in blackleg drivers ,
(if we had any ) would bring total shut down to the UK , nobody would load the tanker , service it , or handle it's contents , we are running close to a total UK general strike ,
and collapse of the goverment , I guess this is the one big differance between the USA and Europe  that I have seen having worked for both , I got made redundant by an American company ( it closed it's european subsidery ) they thought they could close the UK company, with only 2 weeks notice  :haha: ) it cost them 6 months salary and 2 weeks wages for every year worked ,
We don't do hire and fire  over here ,  LOL it was enough for me to branch out on my own , so thanks Difco Labs Detroit , you made my day

$3.89 per gallon in Central Arkansas.  Looks like it's time to buy a bike.
