Well I guess 30% of our oil is imported and refined in the gulf area.  So a hurricane would explain [part of the spike. I also heard that the government is opening the reserves.

EDIT: I am not defending the oil companies.

Please, netmasta, don't defend the oil companies.  They raise the price at the hint of a problem but then take their good old time in dropping them back down.

As I said in another thread, federalize the us oil companies.  They are gouging.  Do you think for a minute that the state or federal governments would allow a food chain that holds the majority of the food supply in a devastated area to do this?

yeh i heard him say that on the news last nite too...sh*t like that is why i don't sit down and watch the news anymore...i turn it on and hear whatever filters in...and boy that rang thru loud and clear...of course he's gonna say that...he doesn't have to buy gas right now...why does the president always have to be so stupid...is it part of the requirements of the office???... to be completely removed from real people situations...he said, don't buy any more than u need...uh, well okay i'll try not to buy more than i need...besides my stock piles are full anyway...i'll cancel all those trips driving in circles so i can burn as much gas as i can and be able to buy more than i need...sheesh...frickin thin lipped idiot

That just means cost of living would go up even more,, the more money put into the system the more everything rises,, not that i wouldnt disagree i def would love too  see a rise in min or wages all together, what gas there is here in western nc is anywhere from 2.99-3.99 ive seen, and prob 30 % gas stations here are out due to ruptures in the gas lines from the hurricanes
