yes its very true, Intel is the company fronting this, The already have the cards and cables. 1Gbps eathernet is already hear, 10Gbps Eathernet is on its way, with in 6months, SATA 2 is on its way, with in 3 months USB3 will start making its way through in about 2-4 months, The speed is there only 1 thing has to be done and thats running new cables. So beleve it.

Its already started with verizon FIOS. Fiber tops out at 800Mbps so far with a distance of about 20,000 FT. The biggest problem is your HD can only right at 150Mbps when SATA2 starts being used then its 300Mbps.

Fiber is here and I’m sure it can go 800Mpbs but you HDD can do a max of 1200Mbps I.E 150Mega Bytes/Sec not Bits and that only to the Buffer not the Disk it self. but Notice they are starting at only 15/2Mbps or 30/5Mbps so 1Gbps Could have been done today if they wanted but again they aren’t that Stupid. And BTW Internet 2 wont replace this internet. Internet 2 is a Collage Privet Network for Testing, Intra-Collage Network, and Research for things Like IPv6 and Stuff.
