Yeah, the real program needs to be running. Wanted to see if it was the correct one or not. Don't disable it in services.
Can you disable Windows Firewall? Read on another forum someone's network connections disappeared after installing this. You really only need one firewall product anyway....
Edit: Try running sfc /scannow from the command prompt. This looks at your system files to see if any have changed.

69 RAT: I've found a few things useful at Doug's site I use a simular patch from their to fix the help on ME.Thats why I thought it might help you.
The site below has some information on XP &DOS The information at the site on windows 2000 & dos looked interesting becasuse it discussed it a little about the NTS file system .Some of this I am trying to learn & it still over my head But it looked useful.
http://malektips.com/windows_xp_and_dos_help_and_tips.html
I will check out the link at elder geeks.I have been to that site before also.

Sorry for the delay. Whew, it takes a long time for windows to verify all protected files after running scannow. I had to put my cd in, etc. Everthing is the same. BUT I just now got an email from MS it looks like I have some "heavy duty" type stuff to do. They want me to boot up cd in my cdrom and do a repair! Apparently you can do this after the OS is installed. Then he has a fix that will maybe get my connections back on-line. well you know, they work fine, they're just not there.
I don't know if I want to do something like that at this time of night,,,,
I could post his mail if you'd like read it

Sounds pretty straightforward. Since the install of XPSP2 didn't fix the issue, I'm not sure repairing will but it's worth the shot. At least your network connections might come back and the other scripting issues may be resolved! I think they give you a couple of installs prior to having to call them to re-activate XP. Wonder if anyone in India is up at this hour?

Gee let me think about that. he he. Well they might be cause it's not a holiday for them
Ya I agree if the upgrade didn't fix it then why would this, but then this is supposed to a repair.
Definetly worth a try
BTW you can re-activate on-line in about 5 seconds-piece of cake. I did it that way the last few times

Yup. Only thing I can figure is that something that the sp2 disk didn't update on install might be fixed with repair.

Ya like since it's a "repair" the system might "go after" stuff like incomplete or corrupted folders, etc
edit: I think I'll do this in the morning when I'm more "fresh". No "bendas" in the morning

No, no... Benda' (or bender for those from away) is what you go on the night before, hangover is what you have the morning after....
Edit: It's actually hangova' in this neck of the woods.......
Here's a link on the reinstall stuff from Microsucks, oops I mean soft. Method 2 is his suggestion....

Don't you mean hangova'
I read that on the site and you're right. It's exactly the same. They're getting their fixes right off their own site.I find it difficult to navigate their site, maybe a few more beers, I mean ahh
edit: ha, you must have been editing your ditty on hangova while I was guessing the very same thing on my next post

Ha I'm getting a good laugh out of this one
Having a buzz while navigating Microsucks sounds like it might just be the right way to do it. It sure as hell doesn't work for me when I'm in any other condition

So, if I might be so forward here, let me guess, your dog is a Chow
I kept thinking Husky but then I didn't think that was quite right. Beautiful dog to say the least. On Microsucks, do you ever get into the rut where everywhere you to look for something you always end up getting the famous"read this" and it's always like article Q48576389 and of course it has nothing to do with what your looking for AFTER you look at it
