most cable isp's wont give you the full speeds all the time like fios but you have to expect that from cable

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 13145 Kbps about 13.1 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)
Download Speed is:: 1605 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (server2)
Test Time:: Sat Dec 24 2005 03:10:04 GMT-0800 (Pacific Standard Time)
Bottom Line:: 235X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.64 sec
Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 290.99 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-3OBJMK72L

13Mbps here - however at 95% my browser always hangs and DuMeter shows the speed drop, so I'm not sure if the 3Mbps loss is due to a browser issue. I get 16+ consistently on DSL reports.

Damn, must be nice to live in an area with competition.  Still, congrats on the upgrade.

P.S. - Mind posting an upload test?   Very Happy

Yes, competition is good - although I can't officially get FIOS (it's a few miles away in either direction  - Redhawk and Murrieta, but they say soon). I might eventually switch to the 30 down FIOS pack when available.

I'm in Temecula (92591) and we received notices about Extreme two days ago - I had an old SB4200 that I swapped for a RCA425. Speeds are better than the 4200 but not 16Mbps. My upload speeds are past 2Mbps but downloads are barely 6Mbps (compared to the 3Mbps I was getting before).

I think I need to perform some tweaking on my end...will try and report back.

Perhaps we can get a lil more information as to how Adelphia began informing customers of the Extreme Svc.. I am interested how they were informed, via e-mail, mail or something along with their bill. I just want to know what to look for if Extreme Svc. reaches my area.

They sent a letter in the mail (seperate from my bill) explaining the new speed and what models are compatabile.

I'd keep an eye on this page to see where they are releasing it next:

Verizon FiOS 15/2

Adelphia Extreme is avalable at my house, so is FiOS but...

$60 for 16/2, and $46 for 15/2

I think the $46 is a better deal from Verizon (what I have) I mean seriously can you even use the FULL 16 mpbs? And really..its 1 more mb..not that big of a differance.

Plus, rumor has it from Tech support @ Verizon that the 5/2 will adventualy become 15/2 and the 15/2 will adventualy become 25/5 Bisnesss still 30/5 Static IP. and Pricece will stay the same.

in nyc the fios 30 down and 5 up package is $55 to compete with optimum online 30 down and 2 up.  anyway get fios cause its fiber and garredteed speed not shared so you will have more stable line with pings and speed.

That's fine for people who live in areas with more than one Broad Band provider but for the most part, we're stuck with one ISP.

I'm *lucky* enough to have a choice between 768k SDSL for $80-100/month (which I'm not guaranteed because I'm ~16k ft from CO), or 4mbit/384kbit for $45/month | 6mbit/768kbit for $60/month from Adelphia...who actually provides speeds over those caps.
