Speed Problems. (Yes, another one)
«

I'm getting pretty angry seeing how people with preferred service, 4mb/512kb, are getting way better speeds than I am. Most of the people I see here with the same server I have are getting better than average. While I'm stuck here:
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 1944 Kbps about 1.9 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 237 kB/s
Tested From::
http://testmy.net/
(server2)
Test Time:: Fri Jul 15 2005 20:23:40 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)
Bottom Line:: 35X faster than 56K 1MB download in 4.32 sec
Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 59.56 % of your hosts average (Cox.net)
Validation Link::

Cox technicians even came down to my house and changed the cable box up on the pole and re-routed all cable wires in my house, away from the cable modem so my internet would gain speed. But it has failed. It only slightly increased speed. The highest I've ever gotten in speed is 2.6mb. I'm only about 20-30 mins away from the provider. Shouldn't get that much loss in the line. I've even tried the speed up suggestions by VanBuren, but none have worked.
I dled the TCP_Optimizer_zipped.zip from one of CA3LE's posts. It didn't improve my speed but it kept it no lower than 1.4mb. Please, please help me. I've had this problem ever since I signed up with Cox cable years ago. I've tried many optimizers, but they all haven't helped. I know you people are better than them programs, so, can anyone solve this problem that has plagued me?
Also, please don't suggest on me contacting Cox. Whenever I call customer support, they check the modem and don't find anything wrong with the speed. And it's not Cox because my bro has the same deal as me and he dls at 4mb a sec and I can only dl 500kb a sec with an accelerator. Without and accelerator, it's lower 200's.

"By the way, this is not a bullsh*t 'accelerator' crap program, this actually does not even run after the settings are applied. As with SpeedGuides TCPOptimizer this simple makes a few changes to your registry.
This program is free to download, free to use and free to distribute (since this is not my software please read the license agreement for distribution)
My personal experience
I personally used
\Program\Cablenut\VanBurens cablenut settings\version 2\WinXP_2K_CABLE_DSL\MSS1460\Cable & DSL 5000 768.ccs"
That's quoted from CA3LE. I used the settings it says above with the cablenut and now I get over average bandwidth. I'M SO FRIGGIN HAPPY NOW!!
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

How 'bout a little more info, also.
What brand of modem?
Can you give us the info from diagnostics page (levels, SNR, etc)
Do you have a router/hub in line.
Wired or wireless; all these will help.

I'm running windows XP and I don't know what that page thing means. I'm on a Terayon TJ715 modem. And I'm not on a wireless. I know better than to get on a wireless because I'm a gamer

Try this for diagnostics:
If you have a Terayon TJ715, navigate to
http://192.168.100.1/diagnostics_page.html
to view the diagnostics. The password is: icu4at!

It should open up the diagnostics page of your modem.
It is actually generated from the Terayon modem, not the WWW.
Here is an example from my Motorola modem:
(sorry about the large size, couldn't shrink it and make it clear)

well i had the same case scenario earlier, and as it turns out the outlet signal was bad and also the splitter (if you use it for more than one coaxial on the same outlet) needed to be replaced.......in certain cases ive experienced very very slow connections just by using two coaxial cables (because i didnt have the one that was long enough lOL) and connecting them together with some kind of an adapter
.......usually replacing that part (under 5 dollars) would fix the problem for me
