Just got off the phone with the sales department at bellsouth and was told that the new upgraded to 6.0Mbps should be available round the 15th of september. They wont tell me the price of that plan yet, she also told me that the upload speeds will be between 512Kbps and 768Kbps, but there is now final world. will post more when i get more info.

$46.95/month looks like the price for Xtreme 6.0.  I checked to see if I qualify (I do) and I saw that price online.

I had to go in through the BS "catalog," since the main listing of FastAccess services doesn't list Xtreme 6.0 yet. I clicked this link
http://www.bellsouth.com/apps/ipc/ICReqDispatcher?userEvent=getAllOffersForACategoryEvent&catId=3&segmentId=2 and entered my 10-digit phone  number and saw Xtreme 6.0 for $46.95/mo.  Honestly, I'm not certain I qualify, although I already have Xtreme 3.0.  But, that screen supposedly only lists the services for which I qualify (assuming no unforseen problems).  I hope that link works.  If not, go to www.bellsouth.com and then go through the catalog to their internet services.  It's in there somewhere.

if you had read some of the other post about the extream 6.0 you would have found out that bellsouth delayed it because of katrina.

Baloney.  6.0 was never planned to go out on Sept 15th in the first place.

jtaylor is lying. i went to that site, then checked every city bellsouth offers service to, and NO STATE gets 6.0 as of right now...

I wasn't lying.  When I posted that, 6.0 came up as being available in my area.  But, I suspected that it was an error on BS's end.  So, I waited a few days and checked again.  That's when I saw it was removed.  I think once BS is ready for a wide-range rollout it will reappear.  I'll sign up then.
