coknuck: Close enough you're up.I believe the exact title is below & the  2  singers that recorded a version of it. I have only heard the Ben Colder version but I think Billy Edd Wheeler  wrote it.

This is true, this is true....but not the song I was looking for.  Right band, wrong song.  Although the lyric matches, this song came first.  Hint: It's from Morrison Hotel.
