If it's the memory sticks that are limiting you, put them on a divider.

As for myself, I have my divider set to run at 166x2 = DDR333 as opposed to the 200x2 = DDR400. Not only that though. The HyperTransport needs to be lowered. As a rule of thumb, the HT should be x5.0/x4.0 up to around 220 FSB (if the HT lets you get that high). Anything over that, you should drop the HT to x3.0. I've also lowered the CPU multiplier/ratio to x10.0 from the default x12.0. (images below)

My Voltage: CPU 1.6, DDR 2.8, AGP 1.7

That combination allows me to raise the FSB much higher (even though we're not really using a Front Side Bus being that our memory controller is integrated directly on the CPU). I don't know why it's still referred to as such.

The Athlon 64 Overclocking section will help you out alot in understanding how to get the most out of your memory. Before reading it, I was only able to get modest OC's. Since then, I've been able to get the FSB as far as 270 with El'cheapo RAM. This is with a AMD64 3700+ and single channel DDR400. You'd do alot better.

When you say that your multiplier is locked at 12, do you mean that you can't change it period, or that you can't go beyond that?

Yep RTB, that's what I thought he meant. There's not really a need to go beyond that is it? Lowering the divider (as you suggested) along with the HT will give Voltageman so much more room for play. That works best for me.

My 3700+ has a default multiplier of x12, but I can change it to lower values. The core is a ClawHammer, L2 cache is 1MB, and the stock clock speed is 2.4GHz as well.

With the multiplier at x10, and FSB set to 270, I've hit 2.7GHz. That's as far as this Kingston ValueRam lets me go. The stability was pretty good, but I wasn't comfortable with the temps. At 1.7 volts, I got up to 54 degrees Celsius, and that's just not good for everyday temps. The heatsink/fan combination is great, but the off brand silver paste can't hold it's own at that voltage.

Anyway, I've seen the AMD 64 chips get major OC's using OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Revision 2 memory.

Here is an excerpt from DFI LANParty UT nF3-250GB: Overclocker's Dream:

-The performance at lower ratios, on the other hand, took our memory to performance levels never reached on any board - AMD or Intel. Both the Geil and OCZ memories are based on very recent Samsung TCCD memory chips, which performed well in our recent memory tests on an Intel test bed. They topped out at DDR557 to 561 on the Intel, so I was skeptical when DFI told me that TCCD memory could reach DDR600 on the nF3-250GB. With a little tweaking, we were able to reach even further with this same memory, to DDR616 at 3-3-4-10 memory timings at 2.8V memory voltage.-
