That's about right for their 1.5 Ultra service, you might be able to see as high as 1250 or so, but over 1200 is perfectly normal.  The rest of it is lost in overhead.

based on the 7% overhead, the max is 1350 Kbps, with a dl speed of 174
the highest dl speed i have had is 156kB/s......maybe the bellsouth overhead is just more though...or maybe im just unlucky

*this is a bit off topic, but thanks to all the people that posted the dial up cablenut settings (my cousins dial up bandwidth is now 102Kbps/12.8kB/s)

Overhead with a PPPoE connection is well over 7%.  Here's a link explaining it:

you should be lucky when i have bellsouth ultra it never pass 1200 on speed test and download speed is alway 120kB/s

the highest i've ever gotten was 1249....the lowest was below 500....my upload is almost always 216 though

when i used to have bellsouth, i had the xtreme 3/384 package, but the highest download i ever got was 2.3 down and like 320 up for avg
