These are the Cablenut settings in my Windows ME.The ones that say they are not
a MS setting are not in the MS default list for the MSTCP in the registry.
 BcastNameQueryCount 0
BcastQueryTimeout 100
BSDUrgent 1
CacheTimeout=600000
DefaultRcvWindow=11680
DefaultTOS = 92
DefaultTTL=128
EnableDNS=0    this is not a MS setting
GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize=11680 this is not a MS setting
IGMPLevel = 2
KeepAliveInterval=1000
KeepAliveTime = 144000000
LanaBase = 0 this is not a MS setting
LocalCopyMade =1 this is not a MS setting
 MaxConnections =100
MaxConnectRetries = 5
MaxDataRetries = 5
NameTableSize = 255
NameSrvQueryTimeout = 100
PMTUBlackHoleDetect = 0
PMTUDiscovery = 0 Some connections work better with 1 to enable mine doesn't
RoutinGBufSize = 146342
RoutingPackets = 50
SackOpts = 1  this is not a MS setting
SessionKeepAlive = 599
SessionTableSize = 50
Size/Small/Medium/Large = blank This is due to how my OS is tweaked elsewhere.
Tcp1323Opts = 0
TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30 this is not a MS setting
MaxDupAcks = 3 this is not a MS setting
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 8 this is not a MS setting
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 4 this is not a MS setting
I thought I would add this to explain why I leave Size/Small/Medium/Large blank in Cablenut.
The 1500 used for the MTU is an example but put in your MTU value like 576 if you use that instead
 for your MTU.
 HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000/Ndi/params/IPMTU/enum
delete the values for "Large" "medium" & "small" without quotes
Leave the values for "Automatic" &(default) rename "automatic" your MTU value like "1500" for example
then  put in "Automatic" without quotes as the value of the string value
it should look something like this example I could not copy the string value symbol so where I type string value is where the symbol would be
string value 1500       "Automatic".
If you make this last tweak you need to make these setting to network in the control panel.Select your internet connection( such as Dial-up adapter this is what my OS uses)
then select properties then advanced highlight IP Packet size& select automatic.Then OK&OK again.you need to do this for each type of connection you have.
After doing the above make this setting in the registry & leave it blank in Cablenut.
HKML\system\currentcontrolset\services\VxD\MSTCP
Size/Small/Medium/Large the Value data is "Automatic"

. . .lol ~ that's got to be the 64 thousand dollar question ~
I'm really not completely sure ~ so I've posted most of the settings and tweaks I use ~ hoping someone will be able to replicate my speed performance boosts.  ~ but, alas ~ I'm still waiting. . .

All I can suggest is read through what I have posted and try some, and see if you get any performance and speed boosts.

If I could get my dial-up(which is good average) to do ROM-DOS's speed  I'll take my chances with the FCC.   Rolling Eyes

resopalrabotnick ~ the FCC does not set nor care how fast data is sent over the PSTN network. From their perspective the faster the better.

What the FCC does care about is interference between telephone customers. Due to that concern, the FCC limits signalling power, in effect how loud each side can be. It is a side effect of this limitation, and typical noise and attenuation characteristics of the copper telephone loop that limits maximum V.90/92 speed to about 53.333kbs. The FCC would have no problem if some clever engineer (or tweaker, like myself) figured out how to recover the full PCM data rate of 64 Kbps.

On a full expaination on how this may be done,

GEE ~ resopalrabotnick ~ you need to use j/k if your trying to pull my leg!
Now I have to tortuously re-assemble my silent-UHF nieghborhood cordless interceptor/converter piggyback rider attenuator! ~ Thanks! ~ lol
