Yep, Christmas came early this year -- Adelphia-wise.  Let me explain.

In late March of 2005, I signed on with Adelphia via a promotion that allowed me to pay only $26.95 per month for their Preferred service (4000/384) until the end of the year.  Saturday, I got a postcard from Adelphia offering me three months of the same service for 25% off after my current promotion expires.  If my arithmetic is correct, my new rate will be $32.96 per month, which will mean I will have had a full year of discounted service cost.  Curiously, the $32.96 monthly fee is about the same cost that was stated to be the new, full-cost of the service starting January 2006 in a newspaper article back around April of this year.

Adelphia is also offering newcomers a rate of $23.95 per month for three months for the 4000/384 service.  If I were a newcomer, I think I'd want a better deal than than that, depending on my service area.  For example, if even cheaper DSL service were available, $23.95 for three months wouldn't look very good, regardless of the speed disparity.

I also note Adelphia has apparently changed the name of the Preferred service to simply "High Speed" service.  So far, I haven't seen any indication of a name change from Adelphia to Time-Warner or whatever.
